一、Hope

 

“希望”披着羽毛

在灵魂深处栖息

哼唱着没有歌词的曲调

永不止息

在微风中的歌声

是如此甜蜜

而当痛楚的风暴袭来

在它颤抖的歌声里

仍然流淌着暖意

这歌声穿越陌生的海洋

洒落在寒冷的大地

只要我心中还有一线阳光

它就永远为我歌唱

“HOPE” is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul

And sings the tune without the words

And never stops at all

And sweetest in the gale is heard

And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That kept so many warm

I’ve heard it in the chilliest land

And on the strangest Sea

Yet，never，in extremity

It asked a crumb of Me

 

二、Had I not seen the Sun

 

若非见过太阳

暗影于我何伤

然而在光的旷野里

更照出我心的荒凉

I could have borne the shade

But Light a newer Wilderness

My Wilderness has made —

 

三、I Died for Beauty

 

我为美而死，直至坟墓

仍然恍惚

而有人长眠在我身旁

为真而亡

“为了美。”我回答

“而我，为了真，”他说，

“二者本是一体，我们亦是兄弟。”

于是，就像兄弟在长夜里相遇

I Died for Beauty

I died for beauty－－but was scarce

Adjusted in the Tomb

When one who died for Truth，was lain

In the adjoining Room－－

He questioned softly“Why I failed?”

“For beauty，”I replied－－

“And I－－for Truth－－Themself  are  One

We Brethren，are，”He said－－

And so，as Kinsmen，met a Night－－

We talked between the Rooms－－

Until the Moss had reached our lips－－

And covered up－－our names－－

 

四、Because I could not stop for death

 

因为我不能为死亡而止步

死亡便为我停车驻足

他的马车上只载着我们

还有一席留给“永生”

缓若徜徉，他知道此行无须匆忙

我也把工作和消遣暂且抛开

谢他以礼相待

Because I could not stop for death

He was parking pick me

The carriage was just the two of us

And "eternal life" with seat

We slowly, he knew that without the need for rapid

I also put aside work

And leisure, to return

His manners

We passed the school, coincides with the recess

The children are noisy, on the playground

We passed the fields of gazing grain

We passed the setting sun

Maybe you should say, he passed us by

Dew and cold makes me quiver

Because my clothes, just sheer

And my cape, only tulle

We stopped at a house, the house

As a swelling of the ground

The roof, barely visible

Eaves, below the surface of the ground

Since then, several centuries

Seems to short the time of day

That day, I first guess

The horse, towards the eternal

 

五、Nobody knows this little Rose

 

如果我不曾摘下这朵小玫瑰

为你把她带回

谁会知道她曾经开过

只有蜜蜂把她思念

只有蝴蝶远远飞来

只为在她的心口小睡

只有鸟儿把她寻觅

只有微风为她叹息

哦，我的不为人知的小玫瑰

像一个朝圣者

Nobody knows this little Rose —

It might a pilgrim be

Did I not take it from the ways

And lift it up to thee

Only a Bee will miss it —

Only a Butterfly

Hastening from far journey —

On its breast to lie —

Only a Bird will wonder —

Only a Breeze will sigh —

Ah Little Rose — how easy

For such as thee to die！

 

六、I started Early

 

早起，牵着小狗

去看海

还有来自海底的人鱼

 

还有神气的大船

还有大船上招展的风帆

尽管在他眼里

我也许就像一只小耗子

被海浪冲上沙滩

 

此外悄无一人

唯有我和大海

浪花踩过我的脚

轻拽我的裙摆和腰带

潮汐打湿了我的胸衣

 

就像滴落的露珠

追逐一粒蒲公英的种子

可以么？吃了你？

I started Early — Took my Dog —

And visited the Sea —

The Mermaids in the Basement

Came out to look at me —

 

And Frigates — in the Upper Floor

Extended Hempen Hands —

Presuming Me to be a Mouse —

Aground -- upon the Sands —

 

But no Man moved Me — till the Tide

Went past my simple Shoe —

And past my Apron — and my Belt —

And past my Bodice — too —

 

And made as He would eat me up —

As wholly as a Dew

Upon a Dandelion's Sleeve —

And then — I started — too —

 

And He — He followed — close behind —

I felt his Silver Heel

Upon my Ankle — Then my Shoes

Would overflow with Pearl —

 

Until We met the Solid Town —

No One He seemed to know —

And bowing — with a Mighty look —

At me — The Sea withdrew —

 

七、If I can stop one Heart from breaking

 

若我能使一颗心不再破碎

此生便足以安慰

若我能平复一重生命的痛楚

或是抚慰一个灵魂的煎熬

甚至是将一只迷途的知更鸟

送回它的小巢

——此生便不曾虚度

Or help one fainting Robin

八、Heart！We will forget him！

 

我的心啊，我们要把他忘记

就在此夜，与我一起

你要忘记他给予的温暖

我要忘记他带来的那一缕光芒

 

若你能做到，请告诉我

好让我也向忘川起航

快一些啊，我的心

因为稍有迟疑，我便又将他记起

When you have done，pray tell me

That I may straight begin！

Haste！lest while you're lagging

九、I heard a Fly buzz – when I died

 

当我死去，青蝇在耳旁嗡营

屋中一片宁静

就仿佛风暴将起之时

空中的那种宁静

 

犹未瞑目，但已失去生命的湿度

呼吸在胸臆间缓缓凝固

仿佛在等待着

死神见证下的最后一击

 

遗嘱墨迹犹新

身外之物行将散尽

恰在此时

闯入一只小小的青蝇

 

它那忧郁的含糊的嗡营

——是我尘世的微光中最后的声音

而此时窗恰好阖上

我也恰好闭上眼睛

I heard a Fly buzz – when I died –

The Stillness in the Room

Was like the Stillness in the Air –

Between the Heaves of Storm –

 

The Eyes around – had wrung them dry –

And Breaths were gathering firm

For that last Onset – when the King

Be witnessed – in the Room –

 

I willed my Keepsakes – Signed away

What portion of me be

Assignable – and then it was

There interposed a Fly –

 

With Blue – uncertain stumbling Buzz –

Between the light – and me –

And then the Windows failed – and then

I could not see to see –

 

十、Through the Dark Sod

 

百合花穿过幽暗的草地

全不在乎世人的说教和絮语

她雪白的双脚，轻盈而坚定

仿佛从不懂得何为畏惧

 

她要走过广袤的牧场

尽情摇响绿宝石的铃铛

所有的规则和桎梏从此遗忘

满怀狂喜在幽谷徜徉

Through the Dark Sod – as Education –

The Lily passes sure –

Feels her white foot – no trepidation –

Her faith – no fear –

 

Afterward – in the Meadow –

Swinging her BerylBell–

The Mold-life – all forgotten – now –

In Ecstasy – and Dell –

 

十一、The only Ghost I ever saw

 

那唯一为我所见的鬼魂

披着蕾丝，赤裸双脚

走过的样子

像雪花在飘

 

如此轻盈，像一只鸟

又如此迅速，像一只鹿

我的优雅、时髦、古怪又褴褛的鬼魂啊

你可看到了那枝槲寄生

 

我的鬼魂沉默不语

却又传来隐隐的笑声

就像微风拂过忧郁的树丛

摇荡着消失在夜色中

 

我惊扰他了吗，我的鬼魂

在那短短一瞬的相逢

The only Ghost I ever saw

Was dressed inMechlin– so –

He wore no sandal on his foot –

And stepped like flakes of snow –

 

His Gait – was soundless, like the Bird –

But rapid – like the Roe –

His fashions, quaint, Mosaic –

Or haply, Mistletoe –

 

His conversation – seldom –

His laughter, like the Breeze –

That dies away in Dimples

Among the pensive Trees –

 

Our interview – was transient –

Of me, himself was shy –

And God forbid I look behind –

Since that appalling Day !

 

十二、I bet with every Wind that blew

 

我和路过的风吹个没完

待其停留小憩

照顾每一只小鸟

待到长夏来时

奖赏你甜蜜的安息

Is but a month from here –

Put up my Heart thy Hoary work

And take a Rosy Chair

 

Not any House the Flowers keep –

The Birds enamor Care –

Our salary the longest Day

 

十四、On my volcano grows the Grass

 

我以冥想之沉静与温柔

如将青草覆盖于灵魂的火山口

思维的脉络化作绿色的足迹

就连鸟儿也来此栖息

 

然而这生机与绿意何等脆弱

草丛下的岩石深处仍燃烧着地火

A meditative spot – 

An acre for a Bird to choose

Would be the General thought – 

 

How red the Fire rocks below – 

How insecure the sod

Did I disclose

Would populate with awe my solitude.
